COVID-19 Updates
3/19/2020
In response to COVID-19, per special order of the Chief of Police, the Luling City Shelter will have limited access to the public starting 3/19/2020. We will be open by call ahead appointment only. However, we will still be working diligently to care for the animals at the shelter while trying to reunite them with owners or finding them new homes/rescues.
Animal shelters in areas already affected by the novel virus have felt a significant impact. Because of this, the City of Luling Municipal Shelter and Luling Animal Welfare Society are operating under an emergency plan.
First and foremost, The World Small Animal Veterinary Association and the World Health Organization states that there is no evidence that companion animals can be infected with or spread COVID-19.
The shelter buildings will be closed to the public without a call ahead appointment. We have made contingency plans for a curbside pick-up process for adopters, fosters, and reunions. All adoptions, fosters, and reunions will be by appointment only.
Adoption and Fostering
It is imperative that animals leave the shelter. The shelter is working to lower its onsite population by at least 50%. This means adopters and fosters are desperately needed to provide forever or temporary homes to both dogs and cats. If you are interested in adopting or fostering, view the pets online at www.lawsluling.com then email adoptatlaws@gmail.com or call 512-749-5643. If you email, please specify if you are interested in fostering or adopting and the specific animal(s) you are interested in.

Help us control our shelter population!!
If you have found a stray, prior to calling for animal control or dropping off the animal at the shelter, please follow these resources including checking with others in the neighborhood to see if you can locate the animal's owner, posting on social media, and scanning the animal for a microchip. Most animals at large are still quite close to home. Once they leave the area they are found, their chances of being reunited with owners decreases significantly.
Scan the found animal for a microchip.
